Veterinary Imaging Centre

The Veterinary Imaging Centre provides state of the art diagnostic imaging facilities to inpatients of Perth Veterinary Specialists, as well as to outpatients on an appointment or day procedure basis. This gives referring veterinarians the opportunity to maintain continuity of quality care for their patients whilst ensuring that they have the advantages of advanced diagnostic capabilities they would otherwise not have access to. Both the referring veterinarian and the pet owner can have confidence that the procedure is performed and interpreted by registered specialist veterinary radiologists to ensure an accurate diagnosis and allow appropriate treatment recommendations.

Referral for imaging procedures is usually as simple as a phone call for an appointment and a referral form submitted by the referring veterinarian. Appointments for advanced imaging procedures (CT and MRI) can only be made after discussion between a radiologist and the referring veterinarian to ensure the most appropriate study is performed.

In most cases the radiologist that performs the procedure will directly contact the referring veterinarian by phone as soon as possible after the procedure is finished – this will be followed up by a written report within 24 hours.  Owners will be given a brief summary of the findings upon discharge of the pet, but we ask that you visit or contact your veterinarian to fully discuss the findings and any further recommendations as they relate to the clinical problem of your pet.

The radiologists at the Veterinary Imaging Centre are also happy to provide film interpretations and technical and equipment advice to veterinary practitioners – please call and speak to one of the radiologists.
